Marjorie Amos Residence is an important Reintegration Program which gives young women a place to go if they are in conflict with the law.
How does the program help?
The Marjorie Amos Residence is a ten-bed open custody/open detention facility for young women between the ages of 12-17 who are in conflict with the law.
What can this program do?
We believe it is necessary to establish a holistic, healthy environment for young women. The residence provides a therapeutic setting which enables the young women to enhance self-esteem and develop life skills. Such skills are necessary not only to address issues that have brought the young women into conflict with the law, but also to begin their positive integration into the community.
What services does the program provide?
Marjorie Amos Residence offers an environment where young women can explore life patterns, learn new skills and develop positive attitudes respecting both themselves and others in their community. This gender specific program provides the framework for young women to develop self-confidence, self-esteem and the interpersonal skills necessary for a balanced and successful life. The care provided to young women in the program includes the provision of food, shelter, educational upgrading, supervision and guidance, as well as the promotion of physical, emotional and social well-being.
Who is eligible?
Young women between the ages of 12 to 17 who are in conflict with the law and who have been given a disposition of open custody/open detention are eligible for the program.
